HISTORY
The firm was founded in the middle of the nineteenth century at Donegall Street in Belfast City Centre by Alexander Johns, a member of a prominent Carrickfergus family. It was subsequently based at 11 Lombard Street from 1875, and in October 2000 relocated to its present address at 40 Linenhall Street, Belfast.
On 1st January 1949, the firm, then known as Johns Elliot & Johns, merged with Robert Wallace & Company, which had a similar type of commercial and company practice, to become Johns Elliot Wallace & Company. The next forty or more years saw an expansion and transformation as providers of a complete range of legal services. This was coupled with a physical expansion into adjoining buildings in Lombard Street, a comprehensive refurbishment and re-equipment programme and the introduction of modern office technology. A shortened form of name, Johns Elliot, was adopted on 1st January 1989.
With the expansion of the practice, and recognising the opportunities afforded by evolving office technology, the firm relocated in October 2000 to a purpose-designed suite of offices at 40 Linenhall Street situated in a converted and refurbished Victorian building in the heart of Belfast's commercial district. The firm is ideally placed to satisfy the requirements of an expanding client base that includes local, national and international public companies, private companies, public authorities and private individuals.
Good working relationships have been established and developed over the decades with a considerable number of law firms in the City of London and other regional centres in Great Britain, as well as with a number of leading Dublin City firms.

						THE FUTURE In the course of its long history the firm has adapted to the inevitable challenges thrown up by a constantly changing society.
